LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST AID AT WORK
It is a requirement of the Health and Safety (first aid) regulations 1981 that employers should
provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. This comprehensive one-day course
covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency
situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.This course will give the participants
a qualification to the highest level.
SYLLABUS
The training includes:
- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
- Control of bleeding and bandaging
- Resuscitation
- Chest and abdominal injuries
- Strains and Sprains
- Asthma
- Heart Attack and Angina
- Choking
- Head injuries
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Burns and Scalds
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session,
then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.
DURATION
A minimum of 6 hours. One day course.
CERTIFICATION
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor along with a multiple choice question paper at the end of each day.
A Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland), valid for 3 years will be issued to the learner,
subject to successful assessment. The new changes mean that external assessors are no longer required
but can be organised.
NUMBERS
A maximum of 12 learners can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of
16 years of age. Bigger groups can be catered for, but the ratio must not exceed 12 students per instructor.
